Monthly T.U.S.C. Presentations

Hello!

Welcome to the Totally Unique Speaking Club (T.U.S.C.).  Each month, students will select a job from our T.U.S.C. responsibilities.  They will prepare and present a short presentation (1-2 minutes long).  We will select new jobs at the beginning of the month and students will have the remaining days to prepare and practice.  Many people (myself included) find public speaking to be nerve-wracking and difficult.  It is our hope that these mini-presentations will help our students to become more comfortable speaking in front of a group.  It will also give them the opportunity to practice the elements that make a successful speaker (posture, eye contact, steady speed, hand gestures, volume, etc.).  They will be able to apply these new skills later in the year when we participate in the Concours d'art oratoire, a city-wide oratory competition.

Who: students select a job
What: prepare a mini presentation (1-2 minutes); students must hand in their planning sheet and will be evaluated according to the rubric they have received
Where: prepare when finished an assignment early at school and/or at home
When: monthly (September 29th)
Why: to practice and improve public speaking
