Room 19 is a B.Y.O.D. Classroom
(Bring Your Own Device)
In our classroom,
students will have access to the wireless network using their own technology
devices such as cell phone, iPods, iPads, laptops etc. for educational
purposes. Mme Sweeney and Mme Exner believe
that proper use of technology in the classroom may increase student engagement,
promote collaborative work, facilitate project-based learning, and allow for
more personalized learning.
With direct
teacher approval, students may use their own
devices in the classroom to access information and to communicate
with others.
Room 19’s Rules for B.Y.O.D.
1) You bring your
device to school at your own risk, so please take care of it. Neither Mme
Sweeney, Mme Exner, nor Massey
School are responsible for your device if it is lost,
stolen, or broken.
2) Mme Sweeney and
Mme Exner have the final say.
We will make the final decision on what devices
or internet tools are used.
3) Do not access
video games and social media
sites like Facebook, Instagram, etc unless
you have permission from your teacher. You are only allowed to
access resources that are classroom related. The school monitors what you
access, so make good choices. Failure to do so will result in no access to
B.Y.O.D. in our classroom for you.
4) Please keep
your device away until we allow
you to use it. Do not use your
device during instruction time. Turn your ringer
off, do not make phone calls, send text
messages, or play games.
5) You may use
your device to quietly listen to music during work periods at your teacher's
discretion.
